Our Story

The tale of Green Care Medical Consultants and Fertility Center begins with a little spark that lit up in the mind of her founder Professor Kinikanwo Innocent Green who having qualified as the first medical doctor and Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology in his community, Rumuigbo Town in Obio/Akpor local government area of Rivers state had the passion of changing and touching lives through quality healthcare.
This passion had to come with a huge sacrifice which was to convert a residential quarters which he had slowly built during his days as a resident doctor with the aim of getting extra income to support his growing family to a hospital to serve his community and it’s environs.
This came with fears and uncertainties but the passion in him made him resolute and braced to face his fears and so on the fifth day of October 2014, Green Care Medical Consultants came into existence. It’s first day of existence witnessed its first patient Mrs Glory Ehule who gave birth to a beautiful baby boy Master Bright Marvelous Egbule whose nick name is ‘Dr. Green’ at 8:40 pm.
The humble beginnings of Green Care Medical Consultants comprised of just 3 wards, a theatre, labour ward, reception, and consulting office with 8 staff.
That little spark in the mind of her founder continued to glow and she began to blossom, thrive and expand. From 3 wards in 2014 today the hospital has grown to have 12 wards ( Private and Semi Private) including male, female, and general wards, 2 theatres, state of the art health equipment, a standard laboratory, labour room, an emergency care ward, Pharmacy, and a special care baby unit for preterm babies which started in 2023 with a 28 weeks old baby successfully nursed to term.
It’s staff strength has grown to over 50, over 500 babies have been born , and distinct medical
interventions have been carried out successfully in the areas of obstetrics and gynecology, paediatrics, internal medicine, surgery, and family medicine.
“Around here, however, we don’t look backwards for very long. We keep moving forward, opening new doors and doing new things, because we are curious…and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths” -Walt Disney Company.
The above quote has been replicated in the history of GreenCare Medical Consultants as it
continued to look forward by taking the giant stride of starting its fertility center on the 23rd of October 2021 with the aim of helping “trying to conceive families” achieve their dreams of having babies and growing their families through the intervention of medical science given by God. Since its inception, over 100 babies have been born successfully to clients from all over the world. (The United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Ghana, Australia).
Today the fertility center carries out more advanced treatments in the area of reproductive health such as Preimplantation Genetic Testing / Sex Selection (PGT) and ICSI. In its goal to better the lives of people, Green Care Medical Consultants and Fertility Center has carried out a lot of programs and projects such as free medical outreaches, free surgeries for indigent people in her environment, rural areas, markets, schools, and churches. In 2022, she launched her yearly back to school program “Healthy and Ready” which has attracted over 500 children being gifted with free back to school gifts, medical checks, and routine drugs. This year 22 children benefited from her school fees scheme. It has also donated a security post for its environs and funded the payment of the security staff and strives to do more.
The groundbreaking ceremony for the second phase of Greencare Medical Consultants and Fertility Center has taken place as part of the activities marking its 10th anniversary.
Today the little spark of an idea of Green Care Medical Consultants has began to kindle the world by bettering lives through quality health care and causing positive change one life at a time.
Green Care Medical Consultants and Fertility Center is likened to the Palm tree and the Cedar in Lebanon. (Psalms 92:12).
It is on this note and in appreciation to God almighty, our partners, staff, friends, and family who have stood by us through the years that we gather to celebrate this milestone.
